Frequently Asked Questions

I have an Iron Mountain supplied combination lock. How do I open my lock?

Please follow the steps outlined below:

I am interested in renting a storage unit from Iron Mountain Storage. What is required to begin renting my own storage unit?

First, Contact Us to find the right unit for you. Once you have chosen a storage unit, you will be required to sign a lease, pay the first month's rent (prorated), the last month's rent, and a $10 lock deposit for the lock we will supply you with. For example, if you are renting a unit for $50 a month, and you are moving in on the 20th, you will be required to pay $17.75 (11 days rent prorated), plus $50 for your last month's rent deposit, and $10 for the lock deposit, for a total of $77.75. When you give your 30 day notice to move out, you will not need to pay rent for the final month since you have prepaid it, and you will also receive your $10 lock deposit back upon lease termination.

I no longer need my storage unit. How do I terminate my lease?

Per your lease agreement, you must notify Iron Mountain Storage in writing of your intention to terminate the lease prior to the first day of the month you wish to move out. Effectively this means at least 30 days notice is required. If you prepaid your final month's rent, rent will not be due for your last month. Your $10 lock deposit will be refunded once we verify the lock is still in good working order. You are responsible for any past due rent or fees before the lease is considered terminated. You must clean the unit of all items. A $100 surcharge will be applied for removal of any items from your vacated unit. If you fail to give 30 days notice prior to termination, you will be responsible for an additional months rent. You are also financially responsible for any damage to the unit.
